Edelrid Shield II is a lightweight and durable softshell helmet with an optimized closure system for even better comfort. The ideal helmet for long and demanding alpine activities. Softshell (in-mold) helmets have a lightweight polycarbonate outer shell that is firmly attached to a shock absorbing EPS (expanded polystyrene) foam core. The energy is absorbed by the EPS core, which gradually deforms upon impact. The polycarbonate outer shell protects the EPS core and helps spread the impact energy throughout the helmet. Softshell helmets are particularly light, although slightly less robust than other types of helmets.
