    Primary tissue

4-way stretch polyamide fabric (235 g/m2) with PFC FREE water repellent treatment. Ensures high resistance to tears and abrasions. Thanks to the double weave structure, slightly brushed on the back (double weave) it gives high comfort in contact with the skin. The PFC FREE DWR water repellent treatment protects it from external humidity and rain: the fabric does not absorb water and dries quickly even after multiple washes. This special finishing ensures the absence of fluorinated compounds harmful to the environment. UV PROTECTION: UPF50+.

    Secondary tissue

PFC FREE CLOTHING. Traditional rain jackets repel water using synthetic compounds known as PFCs (perfluorocarbons). PFCs have been used for many years as Durable Water Repellent (DWR) surface treatments on outdoor clothing, equipment and footwear. This finish helps waterproof materials repel water and impurities. Without this invisible barrier, water and dirt would pass through the layers making them feel damp and wet, drastically reducing comfort. The chemical bond formed between fluorine and carbon, found in PFCs, is one of the strongest chemical bonds known to date: for this reason, PFC does not degrade rapidly in the environment; accumulated traces of it have been found in animals and also in humans. This problem, concerning the accumulation of this compound, can cause various effects on human health and the ecosystem and has been the reason for many discussions between groups of environmentalists and outdoor clothing companies. A key factor in the persistence of the PFC in the environment is the length of its chemical structure, or the number of carbon atoms in the structure. Historically, the outdoor apparel industries have used long-chain structured PFC (referred to as "C8"). In response to concerns about PFC's environmental impact, major chemical manufacturers have developed shorter-chain compounds (e.g. C6), which may be less persistent. Montura has replaced the DWR used in its entire collection of outdoor clothing and footwear, with the safer C6. Having said that, DWR C6 can still be dangerous for the environment, which is why part some companies, including Montura, are committed to finding healthier alternatives for the ecosystem, for which PFC FREE DWR treatments have been developed. All brands in the outdoor sector are aware that PFC-free DWR alternatives do not have the same durability and performance of the previous C6 and C8.Montura has selected the best performing DWR PFC Free versions currently available for its products.A PFC free garment e* is intentionally made with materials free from water-repellent treatments based on PFC compounds (perfluorocarbons). The external fabrics are treated with an eco-friendly, PFC-free water-repellent finish: it is a non-fluorinated, plant-based treatment that guarantees long-lasting water repellency and is produced with 60 percent renewable raw materials. * The product may contain traces of it.
